Establishing Professionl Contacts

This week I have tried to establish contact with other professionals around the world. Although I haven't heard anything back from anyone I'm still hopeful I will get some emails back soon. The steps I took for establishing contact was I went to the blog resources for the week and started from the top and started reading then I sent 4 different people an email. Since I hadn't heard back from anyone I decided to listen to the radio podcast but of course I wasn't able to; so I went on the website for Save the Children which is a U.S. based non-profit organization working on behalf of children worldwide. While on the website I saw that you can sponsor a child in or outside the United States the cost is $30 a month. The website shows a picture of the child and age. The money given to the organization help change lives of children around the world. They provide programs that focus on early childhood development, health, nutrition, as well as primary education. I saw and read some real live testimonials from sponsors. In 2015 there promise of 87% of al money went toward programs. Save the children help over 120 countries.

  1. Hi, Monica! I have seen the commercials for Save the Children, but have never gone on their website. I am curious to how they implement early childhood development, health, nutrition, and primary education. I will definitely check out the site. I think it would be interesting to also review real testimonies as well. Good luck in establishing those contacts, I hope they work out for you.

  2. I am happy to hear that you went on the Save The Children website. I have been a volunteer with SCAN for about a year and a half. They have one of their main offices in my state and I have spent a lot of time volunteering on behalf of SCAN to advocate for high quality early childhood settings. I have spoke to legislature and presidential candidates on their stance on early childhood, as well as writing letters to the editor about it. SCAN offers many different volunteer opportunities since they have so many different ways that they advocate in and outside of the United States. Look forward to reading your future blogs about their site.

As far as trying to connect with other professionals, are you on Facebook? If so, do you belong to any ECE group pages? That is where I started my search and had good luck finding others to connect with.

  3. Hello Monica! First all I wish you all the best finding your contacts. I have seen the save the children's commercial. I remembered when I was young my parents sponsored a child. The child would send a letter every time my parents sent money. Are you excited about learning their issues and trends in the early childhood field? Do you think you can use or implement some of their ideas in the classroom? I am also interested in how they implement structure in their classroom. Good luck!
